‘PONNI’ is a 14-minute performance captured short animated thesis film that uses traditional and custom built pipelines with cutting edge virtual production technology to deliver an impactful, epic story of a young girl’s battle to protect her village. Directed by Sibi Naayagam.
Ponni was my first time working with virtual production pipelines for a motion capture animated project, using the latest available 3D modelling workflows at the time across Unreal Engine and associated programs. It provided me with the unique experience of coordinating and adapting to custom created animation pipelines and troubleshooting technical roadblocks while navigating new technology during production and post-production. I am grateful to this project for giving me the first opportunity to extend my love for animation beyond that of a lifelong admirer and contribute to the making of a powerful woman-led story.
