Tarikh - A Timeline
Acclaimed actor-director Churni Ganguly’s second directorial venture Tarikh is a measured rumination on relationships, loneliness and mortality through the lens of a society being revolutionised by the advent of social media. The film was awarded the Best Screenplay for dialogues in India’s 66th National Film Awards.

Tarikh was the first ever feature film I worked on. My role on the project was multi-layered. My duties included that of an Assistant Director, Director’s Assistant and Post Production Supervisor. I also worked on creating the English subtitles for the finished film.
Being able to assist director Churni Ganguly and work on a woman-led set was an experience I was fortunate to have so early in my career. Tarikh allowed me closely observe and contribute to various departments at work: including direction, costumes, production design, music, editing and sound. During post-production, I was specifically tasked with coordinating and supervising ADR sessions for much of the main cast as well as working on effective translations for the English subtitles.
Tarikh opened up the world of feature filmmaking to me in a way that I could not have imagined. I am grateful that the first feature film I was able to help bring to life was one in my native tongue - Bangla - telling a story that is extremely topical for our lives today.
